Scott Bird
sbird@vistaridge.org
Scott Bird is a recent graduate from Western State Colorado University in Gunnison, Colorado where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education. Scott is originally from the Western Slope town of Bedrock, Colorado and has been a musician for most of his life.  Scott decided to formally study music in college when he was inspired by his Grandma Linda who used to say, “always make a joyful noise for The Lord!” Since then, his musical interests have expanded from gospel hymns and bluegrass to the classical music of the symphony orchestra as well as opera. Scott has performed with the Western State Chamber Singers and Concert Choir as a first tenor as well as playing double bass in the Western State Chamber Orchestra. Currently, Scott is pursuing an apprenticeship under conductor Devin Patrick Hughes who is the music director of the Arapahoe Philharmonic and the Boulder Symphony. There, he will study with Hughes in an effort to prepare himself for a career in orchestral conducting. Scott would eventually like to pursue a Masters and Doctorate degree in either conducting or musicology.
